The Magnificent Hermitage
multimedia exhibition project
30 April – 30 July 2026
“The Magnificent Hermitage” project welcomes Seoul locals and guests to explore the historic halls and collections of the State Hermitage Museum. Through cutting-edge multimedia technologies—including 3D mapping, AV installations, and artificial intelligence—audiences can experience the famous interiors, as well as masterworks of painting and sculpture. Notably, some of these exhibits hold such profound cultural value that they are unlikely ever to leave the museum walls. This multimedia project, however, makes them accessible to viewers far beyond St. Petersburg.
Exhibition plan
Pavilion 1: T4
The exhibition route begins with a 1:30 scale model of the Winter Palace facade, showcased alongside a spectacular light and projection-mapping performance. Upon entering the gates, visitors embark on a circular tour through six historic interiors of the Hermitage. The accompanying audio guide creates an immersive, in-museum experience, uncovering the history behind each hall: the Jordan Staircase, the Peter the Great Room, the St. George Room, the Armorial Hall, the Gallery of the 1812 War Heroes, and the Raphael Loggias
Pavilion 2: Т5
A digital gallery showcasing the greatest masterpieces of painting and sculpture from the Hermitage collection. The display features a 180-degree panoramic screen alongside individual displays. Thanks to ultra-high color accuracy and extreme close-up scaling, visitors can examine the fine texture of the canvases, down to the artist's individual brushstrokes. Each artwork is accompanied by an audio guide available in Russian, English, and Korean languages
Второй этаж: Т5
At the end of the tour, visitors can view an exhibition of copy artworks from the Primorye State Art Gallery collection, a presentation of the Hermitage-Vladivostok Center, feature films dedicated to the State Hermitage, and an exhibition by fine art photographer Yuri Molodkovets. The experience concludes with a photo zone, alongside a gift shop offering souvenirs and English-language books
